Manners…. Saying “Please”, Thank You”, “You’re Welcome” are just a few things that come to mind when I think of manners. Just a few simple words that can make all the difference to the person that you are addressing. It seems to me that in our culture good manners are being pushed aside while bad manners are becoming the norm. I had a friend that asked for my help and didn’t bother to say please, but I did it regardless. After I completed the favor and got back to her with the information she never acknowledged me or said thank you. When asked if the info got to her all she said was yes. I never mind helping someone out when they are unable to do something for themselves, but I hate when people refuse to exercise good manners. To me they are saying that they are entitled to what they asked you to do for them, not that you are doing it out of kindness. How can we expect the next generation to carry these manners on if we do not use them ourselves? Do we really want to live in a culture where everyone is rude and no one ever makes you feel apprecitated for something that you do? We really need to take a step back and examine how we treat others and how it effects those around us. I even say “please” and “thank you” to my five year old. My kids in return say these things to others. Parents, it is time that we step up and teach our children and others that rudeness is not acceptable! I am going to stop helping others that never show appreciation until they see that I am not here for their convience!
Make-Up in a Tough Economy July 26, 2009
The last time I was setting in the doctors office I was flipping throug a magazine. I came across an article about cutting cost on makeup. It included two websites in the artclie… http://www.bionic-beauty.com and http://www.eveorganics.com. I hardly ever visit sites that are listed in articles, but I decided to check these out. Eve Organics actually overs a sample for a $0.50 shipping fee (not bad for an eye shadow or something that you can get a few uses out of) but Bionic Beaty has links that are added as often as they are found for free samples. Thus far I ordered a free sample of Dove Hair Care Products (not just one product), Dove Body Wash, Nivea Body Wash, nutrogena for men, Shimmering Body Lotion, a different lotion that I don’t remember the name of, a sample of Good Nights for kids, and a couple of other things. Most of these samples were actually offered by Walmart.com. You just type free samples into their search engine and a list of things pop up. I know that right now they have samples of different feminine hygeine products, the Good Nights, Viva Paper towels, and a couple of other things. I also found a pretty awesome site on my own… http://www.signatureminerals.com . They offer a sample pack of six products of your choice for only a shipping cost of $5.35. You can choose from foundations, eye shadows, concelers, color correctors, blush and bronzers. I am currently awaiting the arrival of my sample kits. Another option is Mary Kay. A fantastic company with a great product. You can hold a make over party and get free and reduced cost items based on the amount of orders that are placed at your party! Plus you get to try before you buy and most consultants give a few days to close a party so you can still get orders from friends that were unable to attend. And my last suggestion is drug stores. I know everyone thinks that they are over priced and outrageous, but the truth is if you go in and look at only the orange or red tag clearenced items you can find some great deals. For example, I was in Wal-Greens yesterday and found Salley Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear polish yesterday for $0.72!!! It is normally priced around $5.00 a bottle and I got two different colors for $1.44! That’s a savings of $8.56! They had plenty of other items that ranged from $7-$10 for only $2.19. You just have to keep your eyes open, and sometimes pick up something that you don’t need to replinish at that time, but its better than waiting until the newer item has replaced it at 2 to 5 times the cost.
A sleepless night! July 23, 2009
It’s 3 A.M. and I can’t sleep! I have my 6 year old laying here beside me, my 8 year old camping out in my floor and the dog some where in the middle of everyone! I’m sure the insomnia has something to do with the Dr. Pepper that I have been chugging since about 8:30. Yes, I know, not very smart, but I keep hoping that the caffeine will make my headache go away! Oh well, c’est la vie!
This time sleeplessness has given me time to design my business cards, magnets and some other things for my Initials, Inc. business. Gotta love Vista Print! I already placed one order this week where all I had to pay for was shipping on 4 items, and today they sent me an e-mail giving me a bunch more things… I get 75 magnets, including some calendar magnets, 100 post cards, and my own designed business cards (250) all for $11.50! I can’t believe it! I would pay twice as much for business cards else where!
I also got some more stuff done for school today! Got all my transcripts sent off, completed my financial aid requirements, and made lots of phone calls. If I can register for classes by Friday I can get a free fleece! Yippie! I love free stuff. Now, if only there was a place giving away free kids clothes, I’d be set!
Having three kids that grow faster than you can feed them get very expensive! My oldest seems to never get full. I’m not sure where he puts it all, but it goes some where. My middle and youngest aren’t huge eaters, unless it comes to mommy’s lasagna or homemade pancakes!
Well, this tire mom is going to try to overcome the Dr. Pepper now and get some sleep!
